Three Pressed Men (Mark Fry, Dick Wolff and Ian Wheeler) are among Oxfordshire’s most versatile folk musicians, offering a broad spectrum of music and song that they describe as “mainly English; mainly traditional”. Vocal harmony, often unaccompanied, mixes with lively and mellifluous melodies, chorus songs and a wide selection of instruments. “3PM” offer the unusual sound of three concertinas played together and own at least seven between them: eight, if you count the knitted one. Variety of styles is a noted feature of their performance. Material, although mainly taken from traditional sources, includes their own compositions and arrangements. Three Pressed Men have appeared extensively in folk clubs, festivals and concerts and take great pleasure in supplementing their music with anecdotes, historical background information and a dash of relaxed humour.
